Vorcat presented two studies at the WindEurope Technology Workshop 2021
Vorcat, Inc. is pleased to announce the presentation of two studies at the WindEurope Technology Workshop 2021, Resource Assessment & Analysis of Operating Wind Farms 2021 conference (September 8-10, moved from Naples, Italy to online meeting https://windeurope.org/tech2021/).
The work titled "Numerical Simulation of Flow Past a Floating Wind Turbine Subjected to Wave-Induced Motion Using a Vortex Filament Method" was presented under Topic 4, Effects of wind farms and turbines on flow and meteorology (Wakes & Blockage).
The work titled "Modeling Wind Farms and Turbines Using a Vortex Filament Method" was presented under Topic 8, Advances in Modeling across scales.
The unique Vorcat simulation technology promises to produce superior, physically-consistent, turbulent flow field results compared to traditional CFD codes. The wind Energy market can benefit tremendously from accurate and robust flow simulations: they can help optimize offshore (and inland) wind farm configurations, maximize power generation by both individual and network of turbines, help in site selection, in the development of yaw/pitch control paradigms, potentially minimizing heat generation by inland wind farms, among other aspects of farm design and operation.
