Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software tools are used in a wide range of research and engineering fields to develop, test, and analyze technologies sensitive to fluid flow.
The great potential that CFD can bring to such endeavors is handicapped by the inadequacies of current fluid prediction schemes in the face of turbulent flows that are frequently encountered in engineering applications. Vorcat, Inc. has capitalized on a number of technical breakthroughs in the numerical solution of fluid flow phenomena via grid-free methods to develop, implement, and commercialize an innovative approach for the prediction of turbulent flow. In order for Vorcat, Inc. to compete successfully in the CFD market - which is estimated to be over $1.5B annually with immediate potential growth to $4B - it has embarked on the following tasks: to complete the development of version 3.0 of the commercial-grade software, port Vorcat Apps to the High Performance Computing (HPC) Cloud and license the software in the form of annual seats to customers worldwide. Our plan is first to target and gain a foothold in the traditional markets, e.g., automotive, aerospace, and clean/green energy and later expand into newer markets such as electronics and semiconductors, biomedical and chemical processing.
Our goal is to become a major player in the CFD market within 5 years after the first release of the software and build a reputation as the world-leader in turbulence modeling technology.

Jacob Krispin: Founder & Interim CEO
Jacob has more than thirty five years of experience in research and development (R&D), and engineering and management work. His career encompasses work in a national laboratory (Israel), and in academia (university of Maryland) and small corporations (US), where he was responsible for the conception, planning, direction, and execution of highly innovative programs.
Jacob is the inventor on US and foreign patents, he is an Associate Fellow with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and he is a referee for AIAA journals, Journal of Computational Physics, SIAM journal for Scientific and Statistical Computing, International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, among others. Additionally, he is a proposal reviewer for the National Science Foundation.
His main R&D work include modern numerical schemes addressing gas dynamics and fluid flow phenomena, ranging from low speed to high Mach number flows, including turbulence, aerothermodynamics, shock waves and wave reflections, viscous and inviscid flows, etc. (1984-present) and applied and classical aerodynamics, in particular missile aerodynamics and high-angle-of-attack phenomena (1977-1989).
Jacob has more than fifty publications in refereed journals, conference proceedings, and company technical reports. He held Visiting faculty positions with the Mathematics and Chemical Engineering Departments at the University of Maryland. Education: B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the Technion, Haifa, Israel (1977 and 1984, respectively) and Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland in 1987.
